I am really not sure why we have officially raised the age of consent to 16 years of age. I personally think there was a lot of fear-mongering done in this age of internet predators and the like.
However, I am glad this article mentions the issue this new legislation carries with it. Because it does not address outdated laws prohibiting anal sex by those under 18, people who are young, though legally allowed to fuck, could be punished if they choose butt fucking. As well, those who are underage who experience difficulties with sex, be they legal or medical or whatever, might not seek the necessary help they need.
