I was on board with this post until it turned into an anti-porn (and I think a bit of anti-sex work) crusade.
No one is going to argue that all porn is created equal and good. Sure, the industry does have some imbalances, some inequality and, in some cases, exploitation does happen.
However, I fail to see how Thaddeus Howze makes the leap that the existence of porn is a direct, overlying contributor to the continued oppression of women. Especially in the current landscape of the porn industry where feminist and ethical porn have gained a foothold and are becoming more popular while at the same time revolutionizing the game.
Eliminating pornography will not raise the bar of equality. Creating good porn will.
