This article was noted by the amazing Laura Agustín who, very rightly, calls out the piece and its author as sexist and full of journalistic bias. When have you ever seen an article on women who work in sex that is so evenhanded? So nonchalant about it being a business, and entrepreneurial enterprise? Not a hint or mention of trafficking, except that men get to travel and go wherever they want as sex workers.
Don’t get me wrong, I do think it is great that some sex workers are being recognized as workers with strong business plans and ethics, but women, even if they have the same aspirations, inspirations and put out the same hard-working perspiration are never, ever characterized in the same way as these men are. Even the depiction of drug use is far more sympathetic-sounding.
