This is an excellent reconsideration of the nature of sex and work.
The five points Saul of Hearts raises are all valid and strong, but I am particularly struck by the first: “Some people are specially attuned to sexual energy.”
I have long been confused by our society’s celebration of all manner of physical accomplishment—particularly dancers and athletes. They are praised and highly-paid. And then there are doctors and chiropractors and healers who perform acts on the human body. Again, sought-after and sometimes highly-paid.
How different is sex work than any of these? Sex can have healing powers and it can also be a display of physical prowess. Why did we establish a difference?
