This week marks the return of the fantastic Fetisch Film Festival in Kiel, Germany. As far as bucket list sex destinations go, I would love to make the trip to check out this event some year. The crop of films being screened this year (and every year!) looks amazing!
In advance of the festival, I received a copy of the film Remedy by Cheyenne Picardo. Set in a working dungeon, Remedy is the new girl on the job, learning the ins and outs of being a professional dominatrix. She encounters various types of clients, some we might find humorous, some we might find intimidating.
And then we meet him. A sadist beyond reproach, and Remedy’s limits are stretched and tested.
Remedy is an intense psychological thriller. Picardo explores the many different aspects of the working life in a dungeon, and she knows from whence she speaks. Using her own experience as a dominatrix, Picardo is able to fuse the more comical and, well, weird images we have of commercial BDSM play with a true-to-life telling of how this work can strain—in good and difficult ways—a person’s own sense of self and ability.
Just because the work looks like it might be easy…
