Another performer, Rod Daily, who was dating Cameron Bay, has also tested positive for HIV. It is not believed he contracted the virus on-set, but it is believed he transmitted it to her. He has decided to leave the industry and set treatment with a positive attitude for the future.
I think this situation has been handled well by all involved. It seems the response was quick and definitive. The people involved have not been hysterical and there haven’t been attacks or backbiting. Cooperation (as far as I know) has been paramount. Yes, this is a difficult thing for Rod and Cameron—it is life-changing. And it has certainly affected all of the performers they work with. Some might decide to leave the work as well. Others might continue, warily.
But when a community puts it’s mind to it, the members of that community can look after each other.
