Male Body Image Issues, or The Big Dick Phallacy

This is a fantastic post by Melissa White of Lucky Bloke (with a great quote from Lady Cheeky!). She touches on some significant issues that affect men and can definitely inhibit sexual confidence and relationships.

One of the most popular rites of humour that can be thrown at a man is to question the size of his dick. Because we all know that small dick equals zero manliness. First, that line of thought makes me wonder what manliness is, and after I try and construct that idea, I try to figure out what the hell my cock has to do with anything.

I have no problem at all with saying that I am the epitome of average in the trouser snake department. At the same time, I did play with some differing sizes and shapes of cock over the years…though no extremes of either small or large. But I can say, without a doubt, that when I was playing with those penises, I wasn’t really thinking about it. I was thinking “YAY! COCK!”

However, the societal stigma of small cock (and conversely, societal approval of big dick) can confuse boys, create self-doubt and instil in them a fear that they just don’t measure up. Add to that, as Melissa points out, the expectations of height, muscles, and hairlessness and so many of us would seem to be doomed to a life of loneliness.

But here’s the thing: many men aren’t lonely. Many men find people who love and lust after them. Regardless of the size of our bellies, hair patches, or penises.
