Call For Submissions: Mammoth Book of Urban Erotic Confessions

Payment: Advance of between £25 and £50 + Royalties

GUIDELINES:
This book is an erotic confessions paperback and eBook anthology of approximately 180k words. The ‘Urban’ word in the title is more to set it apart from our other paperback book Mammoth Book of Erotic Confessions, so no need for everything to be relentlessly city-focused, but it might be nice if you referred to specific aspects of the cities in question, if relevant, but no need to shoehorn it in!

This series is a ‘confessions’ series, so all submissions must be written in the first person. Imagine you’re telling the story to a friend in a letter – so there needs to be less dialogue than in a normal short story. We need the reader to believe that, although outrageous, it may – just possibly – have happened. Tell us a little bit about the narrating character at the beginning so the reader gets involved and as you write, what were their thoughts when ‘X’ was happening? I don’t need a minute by minute sex description, but of course it needs to be very erotic and there also needs to be a good tale.

I am expecting mainly straight stories and they should be in the region of 2,500 and 5,000 words. Unusual scenarios and settings will attract my attention. Humour is welcome too. There must be at least two sex scenes in the 5,000 word submissions.

Twosomes, threesomes, groups, spanking, BDSM, adult babies, slaves, fetish, dogging etc are all welcome subjects. Push the boat out with ideas. I would like to receive lots of really kinky stuff. Unpublished works only please.

Each story must be attached in a separate email so I can divide submissions between email folders. Always send as a Word attachment and not pasted into the body of an email. It would be really useful if you put the story title in the email’s subject box too – for example: ‘Confession – Caught in a Trap’.

I will be closing the call at the end of August so don’t leave it until the last minute to send me your work!

FORMATTING:
Please use Times 12 and no text boxes / headers / footers / page numbers or other special
formatting etc. as they are a bugger to get rid of! You don’t need to worry about double-spacing between lines as I will only have to put it back into single spacing before I print it out. In fact, a 2,500 word story should easily fit on 4 sheets of A4 paper – it doesn’t need to look pretty – for this editor anyway! All speech needs to be in double quotation marks. © 2013 will be put against the story. I don’t need your bio when you submit stories and both published and unpublished writers are equally welcomed.

Right at the top of the first page of your story, you must insert the following information. I need this for when I create the contracts and to send you your royalty payments!

Then, your story should begin here…

* The intention for the confessions series is for them to read as true accounts. So what I would like to see here is something like ‘Chris, London or ‘Sarah, New York’ for example. If you are sending multiple submissions, you need to have a new name and a new town/city against each story. Traditional first names work best.

PAYMENT:
The Advance: Stories should be between 2,500 to 5,000 words and will be paid pro-rata i.e. a story of 3,456 words will be paid £34.56.

ROYALTIES:
• On sales of the Anthology in print, eBook, audio or combined eBook/audio format: a pro
rata share of 15-25% of net receipts.
• On sales of the Mini-Anthology in ebook, audio or combined ebook/audio format: 25% of price received.
• On sales of the Individual Story in eBook, audio or combined eBook/audio format: 40%
of net receipts.

CONTRACT:
Please read the Contract Document before you send me your work. You will find it on this website www.writerotica.co.uk/contract.pdf. The terms are very generous and include conventional printing and other royalty-paying opportunities. (Some of our eBooks are already available as audiobooks.) I will need you to sign up for all the publishing options. I don’t want to get into the fiddly business of sorting through what we can and can’t do with particular stories because that’s when mistakes will inevitably get made. In short, non-exclusive permission to publish the Story in print, ebook, audio and combined ebook/audio editions in English and foreign language.
