The comparison at the end of this article is strong. Teachers are expected to have 1-2 “teachable” subjects, and their studies in education prepare them to instruct in those courses.
So, how are teachers supposed to teach sex education when they aren’t schooled in sex themselves?
It would be great for school boards to hire people from the community who are actual sex educators to come in and provide students with proper sex education. This will then translate into them being knowledgable and sexually confident adults.
