I am enraged.
Yesterday I forwarded Dr. Jess O’Reilly’s excellent response to snickers and jokes about the man who reported being sexually assaulted by 4 women here in Toronto.
Today there is this from one of the Toronto Star’s main columnists.
I am horrified.
I could sit and rip this apart, bit by little offensive bit, but I don’t have time at the moment. I do, however, want to get something out there.
Yes, woman are the predominant victims of sexual assault, by a wide margin. This is a sad and shameful statistic. By Rosie DiManno’s column, women are the victims 90% of the time.
Does that mean that those 10% should be denigrated, mocked, and questioned about “fantasy?”
Does that mean that those 10% don’t matter? Did you, DiManno, stop to consider that perhaps more men would come forward if they weren’t received with this sort of treatment.
Fucking shameful.
I am disgusted.
PS: Go ahead and open this column up for comments, Toronto Star. I’d love to see what people write.
