The Why of Power Workshop at Come As You Are
february 27, 2013
With JP Robichaud
Power and influence can take many forms in modern society, especially in BDSM relationships. While the give and take of power exchange can be thrilling and rewarding, it also comes with certain dangers, not to mention some potentially unhealthy cultural and historical baggage. The lure of power can be confusing, or disturbing, or even frightening, and we have so few narratives about how to engage with it with care, consideration and respect.
In many ways, the question to ask is not how to play with power, but why play in it in the first place? What is it about power that attracts you and your partner? How can you engage with that attraction in a way that is safe and respectful while still giving you both partner the thrill you desire? Working from the understanding that intentions are just as important as actions, the workshop discussion will focus on an exchange of power in both short-term scenes and long-term relationship dynamics, giving you the tools for sexy and healthy power play for everyone.
