Can Erotica Help Women’s Sexuality?
If you know me, or heard my interview with erotica writer Myna Wallin last spring on Sex City, I’m a FSG apologist. Yes, poorly-written (so are many manuscripts from established, respectable writers—that’s why editors have jobs!), but the story is compelling. Very Harlequin-esque…but so what?
The argument does get stickier when it comes to BDSM and power and that this story does include mental health and past trauma issues. I’m still not entirely sure where I stand on all of these, but I do greatly appreciate Dr. Read’s history lesson and the idea of society repressing women flaunting their sexuality.
