Spicing up the Commute

I am currently in my second stint as a commuter. These days I split my time between driving from Pickering into Toronto with my partner and taking the GO Train (southern Ontario’s commuter rail network). My former commute, at the beginning of my career, was a mix of driving, buses, and trains. At worst it was 3 hours each way, which I needed to do to get my foot in the door of the publishing industry.

I’ve never really minded the travel. The ride in these days is fun, chatting, listening to the radio and drinking tea. On the train I read, listen to podcats, or now write blog posts.

The commute is also a fantastic time to think or talk about sex. Or maybe even partake, in some form.
Back in the day, I’ll readily admit, I used to jerk off in the train bathrooms fairly frequently. Sometimes out of sheer boredom, sometimes thinking about my partner, sometimes because I was turned on by someon on the train. It was a good way to pass the time. A little messy when the train would unexpectedly jostle, but worth it.
Unfortunately, I cannot claim to be among those who have hooked up on a GO train. The urban legend is out there, aided now by the Shout Outs section of TOnight magazine. If you’ve actually managed to meet and fuck on a train, I’d love to hear your story–for research purposes, of course. Seriously.

When I used to drive, solo, I would take either the 401 or the QEW—two of Toronto’s busiest commuter routes. To avoid sitting in traffic, I would often leave later. In the winter, that would mean in the dark. So on a few occasions, I’d be discretely driving along, stroking my cock. By no means do I recommend or endorse this activity. In retrospect, driving along at 100 km/h and masturbating is pretty damn dangerous.

These days, the best commute sex activity is the talking we do. Whether it be reliving the night before or talking about sexual issues in current culture or potential fantasies, we get into some fun, intense and always interesting conversations. We do talk about othe things too, lately it has been too much about Rob Ford (not in any sexual way whatsoever!). But sex usually comes up in some way every day.

As for the train these days? When I’m not reading I like to play a game called “What are they into?” Based on the idea that we never know what people really want when they are behind closed doors, I speculate what fetish or activity people are into just from the look of them.

For example, right now I think the lady beside me likes to dominate—but not too much. This game isn’t about making judgements, not at all! I am just intrigued beyond belief about what sexual activities people thinking about, crave and possibly participate in. I only wish there were a polite way to find out if I am right!

And, if people aren’t interesting me, well there is always wifi to make a bathroom trip even more fun than it used to be.
