I hate people jumping on bandwagons of hating instances pop culture. And this is an example of such nonsense.
If you READ and don’t like 50 Shades of Grey…well, so be it. Everyone is entitled to an informed opinion. I actually like the book, so much so that I read the second in the series and have started the third.
Are they “good” books? Well, that depends on your definition of good. Are they well-written? No, not at all. Are they captivating? Entirely. I have been very entertained reading them.
But some people are more than happy to slam the book WITHOUT HAVING READ IT. I find this abhorrent.
I’m an old punk. I grew up with the crappy punk ethos of pop culture being crap. This is such a bullshit argument. I felt that way then, I feel that way now. There is no issue with not liking something, but don’t hate because “people say it sucks.”
If you’re going to bitch, read the book. If you don’t like it, then say whatever the hell you want. That is your privilege because you did read it.
