TMI Blog Award Nomination! So exciting!

What a delight it was to see a message from Andee Sexy Nothern Angel, telling me that she nominated me for a TMI Blog Award!

“The TMI Blog Award honors those blogs that discuss everything in detail and do it well. These bloggers aren’t afraid to discuss their most awkward, embarrassing and intimate experiences with honesty, humor and little to no filter.”

The rules are:

  • Thank the person who presented you with the award.
  • Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
  • Share an awkward, embarrassing and intimate story in 250 words or less.
  • Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
  • Present the TMI Blog Award to 5-10 deserving blogs.Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog.

This blog, really, is underserved. Lately it has been more about advertising my events than writing. I hope that life is slowing down enough that I’ll get back to real writing. This move to the burbs has already started that process, and I’d like to keep it going.

I’ve got PLENTY of awkward/embarrassing stories, the trouble is choosing just one.

Here goes:
Well, this is more of a collection of “Could’ves.” I always find out after the fact that I could’ve had so much more action over the years if I a) had any true understanding of flirting, and b) had any confidence in myself to pick up. The 18 year-old on the beach when I was just 15. Could’ve. The little blue-haired woman and my goth-bar hangout. Could’ve. The artist. Could’ve. All I could do was watch them all, frozen by my lust. I’ve never, ever been able to muster the self-confidence to make the first move. To reach out a hand. To plant a kiss. Well, that’s not entirely true. I did try that once at Pride on some dude and he said (get this, at Pride!) “Hold on, not so fast!” I don’t have regrets over these things, but I think it has taken me 22 years of being sexually active to get a bit of confidence. Fortunately, I don’t need it now (thank you Ms. Fix-It!), but if I were ever thrown back into the dating game, I think I’d, hopefully, make out better. And make out more.

My nominees for the TMI Blog Award would be:
Met Another Frog: An obvious choice given my association with them. Fresh and different perspectives every day.
She Writes Rachel Kramer Bussel: My love of erotica is heavily influenced by Rachel Kramer Bussel’s work.

Women Are From Mars: A fantastic blend of sex, politics, dating. Someone I hope to interview soon.
Cuntlove: A different perspective and a unique writing style.
xoxoamore: Want to know about the Toronto sex scene? Look no further.
Andee Sexy Northern Angel: Thanks again Andee! Some porn stars write. Some porn stars write well. And then there’s Andee. Andee gives awesome write.
