Must Read: Chester Brown’s “Paying For It”

I am definitely a little late in reading Chester Brown’s fantastic graphic novel about being a john Paying For It. It is a frank and honest discussion on paying for sex and romantic relationships that is rareky considered.I don’t necessarily agree with all of his thoughts on love and I think some of his opinions on sex workers are a bit naive and heroic, Brown’ arguments for decriminalizing sex work are.spot on. Chexk out a great interview my collegue, Louise Bak, on Sex City did with Chester.

How the Fleshlight Surprised Me: A Review

I’m well aware that there are many, many reviews out there for Fleshlight products. In fact, I didn’t really intend to do a write up of the product, I just requested it as research for my upcoming Sex Toys for Savvy Boys workshop. Really, I knew I couldn’t do a talk about sex toys for men without including the wildly successful Fleshlight. So it made perfect sense to give it a whirl. Now, I will readily admit that I’ve mocked this toy since I heard of it. And pretty much all “fakies.” No disrespect to those who use and enjoy them, …

New ways to dump and inform people about STI’s?

When I first started reading Dr. Teesha Morgan’s article about a service for ending relationships (kinda like a dump-o-gram?), I was mildly amused. Truth time: I broke off a long-term relationship via Instant Messenger. Now, most of our relationship was via chat because of circumstances, but still, it was a cheap way to end things. I should have done better. However, getting dumped over the phone is not as distasteful as sending an anonymous e-card to inform a past sexual partner that you have tested positive for an STI and that person should get tested. That just seems a mark of …

The Hook-up: La Dame en Rose

Welcome to the first in my new series of Sex Blogger profiles—The Hook-up. People write about sex in many different ways, and I hope to bring many of them to your attention—and potential—adoration.  Introducing La Dame en Rose.  I was drawn to this blog by both the stunning visuals and the charged writing. Because browsers can now instantly translate pages (I’m Canadian, but sadly, I did not keep up with French studies), I am fortunate enough to be able to read these works. And I am glad for it!  Why did you start your blog? I started my blog after …

Sex Dreams, or my lack thereof

I read this article with great curiosity. I’ve had many odd, wonderful and weird dreams in my time, but the reason Dr. Spurr’s piece got me so excited is because I very rarely have sex dreams. Like, one every few years, if I’m lucky.I’ve always thought this odd, considering how much I think about sex during my waking hours. Sometimes in pervy ways, of course, but also in my research, writing and broadcasting.Maybe it is because I am so uninhibited in my waking life that my unconscious mind doesn’t need to keep any secrets to come out in my dreaming …

Muse Mondays: Out of the cold

Welcome to another #musemondays! We’ve had some snow the past few days, so when I saw this image on A Good Woman’s Dirty Mind (one of my new favs) I thought it was appropriate!I hope you enjoy it. Out of the coldEntwined in winter’s slow embrace. As the plants lay dormant and the animals are buried in their sleepy hibernation, we emerge from our own slumber, slowly. As usual, she has kicked off the constricting blankets and has, instead, rolled on top of me for warmth. There is plenty of heat where we connect but as I glide my hand across her …
